Do energy professionals speak contractor? What happens when we talk with homeowners? For many of us, it can seem like a Rosetta Stone is needed to communicate. We have ample evidence of what happens when we don’t communicate well: poor expectations are set, prices do not align with anticipated outcomes, and complaints and bad reviews are submitted. But it doesn’t have to be that way. We’ve conducted original research with over 1,200 homeowners across the US to refine our understanding of what customers want. We’ll look at the importance of different trigger-points for driving upgrades. In this interactive and lively session, Jacob, Mark, and Dan will outline the disconnects between how energy geeks think and the language of homeowners. The session will cover inherent bias in what people say and hear, as well as look at some of the resources and methodologies at play, designed to help programs speak to contractors, and contractors to speak to homeowners.
