Monika Naus is a public health physician who has worked in communicable diseases, immunization and vaccine preventable diseases at the provincial level in Ontario and BC. She is currently the Medical Director for Communicable Diseases & Immunization Service and Medical Head for Immunization and Vaccine Preventable Diseases at the BC Centre for Disease Control, and a Professor in the School of Population and Public Health, Faculty of Medicine, at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.
She was a member of the Canadian National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI) for 12 years, and is currently a liaison member to NACI from the Canadian Immunization Committee, of which she has been a member since its creation in 2004 and is in the second term of being its provincial cochair. She’s been engaged in applied research, policy development, and programmatic issues in this area for over 25 years, and continues to enjoy this ever evolving aspect of public health.
