Dr. Munita is an Associate Professor at the Facultad de Medicina Clinica Alemana, Universidad del Desarrollo in Santiago, Chile, where
he works as a physician scientist. In addition, he holds a faculty appointment at the Center for Antimicrobial Resistance and Microbial Genomics (CARMiG) at UT Houston and is the Director of the Millennium Initiative for Collaborative Research On Bacterial Resistance (MICROB-R), a multidisciplinary group of scientists in Chile approaching AMR using a One Health approach. Jose completed his medical school and trained in Internal Medicine in Santiago and then went on to complete his Infectious Diseases fellow at the UT Medical School, Houston, TX. His main area of interest is antimicrobial resistance with emphasis in mechanisms of resistance and molecular epidemiology in gram positive bacteria.
