Claus Moser is a MD specialized in clinical microbiology, and for more than 10 years have been responsible for the microbial diagnosis of infectious endocarditis, as well as guidance on antimicrobial treatment of the patients, including the oral antibiotic regimens of the non-inferiority trial of partial oral treatment of endocarditis. In his research group, they also perform experimental endocarditis research, including animal studies to improve the outcome of the infection. He is the clinical microbiological representative of their tertiary referral hospital’s expert team in infectious endocarditis. In the aim for a more lenient treatment strategies for patients with infectious endocarditis, they have designed a trial to shorten the duration of the intra venous antibiotic therapy depending on the patient’s response to treatment (the ongoing POET II trial).
Besides infectious endocarditis Claus Moser has a strong interest in other biofilm related infections, especially with the aim of improving the treatment of the infections.
