Supporting healthy behaviors such as breastfeeding is more than just the choice of the mother. Breastfeeding is impacted by who she surrounds herself with, where she works, community organizations she is a part of, her built environment and overarching policies and procedures that govern parts of the world she lives throughout. To improve breastfeeding support, the problem is larger than one person, department, or organization can tackle and solve. It requires engagement and collaboration across clinical, community, and personal linkages. It requires knowing where and how a family interacts with their community and involving the multiple layers of her and her family's life to better understand and implement, or at minimal becoming a part of supporting the landscape, of breastfeeding needs from start to finish across all areas of a community.
