To address unintended teen pregnancy rates and high rates of sexually transmitted diseases in Addison, IL, the DuPage County Health Department was able to partner with the Addison Public Library, and several other community partners to offer a health promotion event called “The Ask.” Community partners from organizations such as Access Community Health Network, Family Shelter Services, DuPage County Health Department, and Elmhurst College serve as an expert panel to answer anonymous questions submitted by middle school and high school students. The event has been attended by 20-30 students each month since the first event in Sept. 2016.
