The changing landscape of the public health workforce requires the collaboration of public and private agencies. Over the years, the public health workforce has become a tapestry of multi-sectoral agencies working to effectively address and mitigate public health issues across the country. In a time where resources like adequate funding is scarce, cross-sectoral partnerships are more important than ever. The opening general session will discuss how nontraditional workforces are teaming up with public health agencies to make communities healthier, explore ways in which the skills of these different workforces are interchangeable, and highlight the need to invest in strategic skills that can be used across sectors.
