This presentation will draw on experience of alumni programming at the University of Pennsylvania and the U.S. Department of State Critical Language Scholarship Program to provide attendees with ideas for bolstering both their alumni and current student support. Topics covered will include: discussing mission and culture of an organization, office, or institution and how that applies to alumni engagement; how alumni engagement programs can bolster meaningful support for current students while providing opportunities for continued learning and professional development for returnees; and how independent alumni communities can fit into the puzzle of alumni support.
- Participants will be able to identify how the mission and culture of their organization, office, or institution maps to alumni engagement.
- Participants will have the building blocks to construct meaningful support for current students while providing alumni with opportunities for engagement, professional development, and reflection on their experiences.
- Participants will learn about the process of assisting the development of grassroots alumni societies and how independent communities can support and be supported by the program.
