Beyond Study Abroad: Engaging Returnees & Alumni

Thursday, November 14
1:00 PM - 2:15 PM
Location: Columbia

As a field education abroad is adept at pre-departure and on-site orientations and processes, but one of the greatest challenges for any study abroad office is how to engage students upon their return, let alone continue engagement beyond their international experiences. We will emphasize the importance of continued engagement and will present on three ways of engaging returnees and alumni through involvement upon return, career focused thinking and programming beyond graduation. Examples will come from different entities at a public institution (Study Abroad Office – University of Pittsburgh), a private institution (Institutional Advancement – University of Pennsylvania) and a third-party provider (AIFS Study Abroad).
