Hope for the best & plan for the worst: Supporting int'l students in the conduct process

Wednesday, November 13
3:45 PM - 5:00 PM
Location: Anapolis

An international student facing pending student conduct charges have many unique concerns that need to be addressed to help them with the student conduct process from the beginning of the charge through the final decision. Providing concentrated support from the beginning of the conduct process helps an international student focus on what they need to prepare for their hearing as well as prepare for a possible decision of being suspended or expelled. This presentation looks at the current practice/model at the Office for International Students and Scholars (OISS) at the University of Delaware in supporting international students who are going through a student conduct process. A streamlined communication plan between OISS and the Office of Student Conduct, as well as having both the OSC-trained conducr advisor and the DSO available in one office provides a streamlined support service to the students.
