This session will present a clear understanding as to how the U.S. Department of Commerce and U.S. Department of State EducationUSA can help U.S. educational institutions recruit students from around the globe as well as assist to identify high potential markets for international student recruitment.  The speakers will provide the attendees with examples of these agencies' numerous programs, on-going collaboration such as on education missions and various updates.  These updates include the U.S. Department of Commerce's International Education Initiative and the U.S. Department of State's Initiative to Support Greater American College and University International Recruitment.

Jim Paul

Director, Boston Office
U.S. Department of Commerce

Jim Paul is Director of the Boston Office at the U.S. Department of Commerce. He coordinates this agency's activities in assisting Massachusetts educational institutions with their international student recruitment activities. As former Education Team Leader for this agency, he organized worldwide assistance to educational institutions and intensive English programs. Mr. Paul graduated with a BA in Political Economy of Industrial Societies from University of California, Berkeley. He later received a Master of Business Administration in International Management from Thunderbird School of Global Management. Mr. Paul also earned an Executive Certificate in Management and Leadership from MIT Sloan School of Management.

Ella Clement-Lilly

U.S. Department of State

Ella Clement-Lilly is the Program Officer for academic advising in all of Sub-Saharan Africa and manages the Recycling Program. She is a civil service officer. Ella earned a Bachelor’s degree in urban studies and sociology from Virginia Union University in Richmond, Virginia.
