Securing against academic espionage. Engaging in public-private partnerships. Registering legal presence abroad. As the field of international education increases in complexity, SIOs and others responsible for leading international programs and initiatives must find ways to anticipate and respond to issues and trends with greater sophistication. This open meeting serves as an opportunity for participants to discuss the future of international education leadership roles and responsibilities within the context of new and emerging professional domains.

Associate Vice Provost for International Education
University of Maryland-Baltimore County

Dr. David L. Di Maria is associate vice provost for international education at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. He frequently presents, publishes and consults on critical issues in international education administration. He is the 2020 chair-elect of NAFSA's IEL KC and a former chair of NAFSA's IEM KC. He also serves as a faculty member for AIEA's Leadership Academy for New Senior International Officers, and he is a former president of AIRC. He is the editor of two NAFSA books, Managing a Successful International Admissions Office and Senior International Officers. He earned an EdD from the University of Minnesota.
