The use of international recruitment agents is now a widely adopted method of recruitment amongst US institutions, growing in popularity with rising interest in enrolling international students and implementation of quality assurance processes. This session will cover best practices for developing and maintaining a strong network of overseas agents. We will discuss and offer guidance on –

The session will offer US educator perspectives and provide an opportunity to hear first-hand experiences of successfully increasing international enrollments on-campus through partner ships with agents.

With over 20 years working in international education, Lisa Besso is currently served as Vice President for Standards with EnglishUSA. Lisa has held executive leadership roles with several private organizations delivering pathway programs at institutions of higher education and secondary education institutions. Lisa has run intensive English programs at two universities and has been responsible for the operations of large chains of intensive English programs both in North America and Australia.

Lisa is currently Co-Founder of Global Education Professionals, a non-profit consultancy that works with educational institutions, helping them achieve their internationalization goals.

Christian M. DiGregorio

Christian DiGregorio has been in the field of enrollment management for almost 20 years. Working his way through the ranks at Marywood University, Scranton, PA, he was named senior director of university admissions in 2009 where he maintained student recruitment for all University levels including bachelor, master, intensive English, pre-collegiate programs; and headed select special projects for the University including co-chairing the Enrollment Marketing Team comprised of members from the Office of University Admissions, Office of Marketing and Communications, and Office of Institutional Technology.

His areas of specialty are with the composition of prospects pools, strategic recruitment planning, knowledge of enrollment trends, and data analysis. Under his leadership, Marywood University established and grew its international recruitment program from 36 students in 2010 to 185 student by the spring of 2015. In 2018, he accepted a position at Hood College in Frederick, Maryland as Director of Graduate Admissions where he is building upon Hood’s success of recruiting graduate and international student populations.

Christian graduated with a B.F.A. in Art Therapy from Kansas State University and later attained an M.S. in Secondary Education Counseling from Marywood University.

Non-profit administrator managing higher education international programming and quality review processes.

As Director of Certification and Associate Director at the American International Recruitment Council I direct the AIRC accreditation process for international student recruitment organizations for the AIRC Certification Commission. I also manage professional development training and resources for members and others through the AIRC Recruitment Specialist certificate program and at the AIRC Annual Conference and other events. I also oversee outreach and communications. I have presented at NAFSA on the topics of Applying Best Practice Standards in International Student Recruiting.
