Engaging international students in conversation around mental health can be challenging.This interactive session will model a program that has successfully broken down the barriers between mental health resources and international students."Pizza and Conversation" has not only helped engage our students in discussions around relevant "hot topics" but has also empowered them to seek mental health services on campus.

Gursharan Kaur Bawa has a passion for experiential and diversity education. She has worked extensively as an educator both in the US and abroad in both higher ed and k-12. By day, she works in immigration compliance and international student programming. By night, she volunteers with CISV International, an NGO focused on bringing people together and building a better future.

Analisse Reyes

Psychological Counselor & Training Coordinator
Marymount University

Mrs. Reyes is a psychological counselor and training coordinator at Marymount University Student Counseling Services who received her B.A. in Psychology at Walsh University and her Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Washington, D.C. Prior to Marymount, she worked as a family therapist for a non-profit mental health agency in Washington D.C. that provides services to under-privileged populations. Areas of particular clinical interest include anxiety, depression, interpersonal and relationship challenges, identity development, trauma, and cross-cultural treatment.

Cate is an international student from Germany studying at Marymount University where she has been an International Student Peer Advisor since 2016. With her background as a psychology major, Cate helps new international students transition to college life in the U.S. She is interested in industrial organizational psychology and in applying psychology to make the world a better place.
