F-1 Student Advising: Intermediate

Discuss the ‘gray’ areas of F-1 advising and explore the nuances of more complex issues regarding maintenance of status, travel and reentry, employment, practical training, change of status, and reinstatement. Designed for experienced international student advisers.

This workshop will run over two days, starting at 12:30 pm Tuesday and ending at noon on Wednesday.

Michelle Massey currently serves as PDSO and Associate Director for International Student and Scholar Services at UMBC, where she leads UMBC's efforts in providing international student immigration advising and support to F-1, J-1 and H-1b students and scholars. She has presented numerous sessions at NAFSA regional and national conferences, and currently serves as a Regulatory Ombudsman for Student Issues for NAFSA Region VIII, in addition to being an active NAFSA Trainer Corps member. She earned her MA in Intercultural Communications from UMBC in 2010.
