The Planning Committee has put the final details on the program for the premier meeting for dental public health! The 20th joint meeting of ASTDD and AAPHD promises to provide attendees with the most current information on international, national, and local issues, lots of networking opportunities, information on new products and services, and a little fun!
Memphis, Tennessee, the home of the Blues, Soul & Rock 'n' Roll, will be our host for five days of programming:
Weekend Workshops: April 13-14, 2019
Conference: April 15-17, 2019
The Memphis Cook Convention Center will host all Preconference and Conference sessions and meetings. Sessions will focus on issues and topics relevant to research, policy, programs, education and community-based care, highlighting how all these areas of public health are integrated toward achieving “optimal oral health” for the nation’s population. The NOHC also will offer association awards, membership meetings, and social networking opportunities.
We will again offer educational sessions in a variety of formats, including plenaries, workshops, seminars, and oral paper presentations. Back are roundtable lunches and a poster session. In addition, the American Board of Dental Public Health will be offering the Specialty Board Examination to candidates on April 11-13, 2019.
This conference is designed for dentists, dental hygienists, health researchers, dental/health educators, legislators, public health officials, Medicaid/CHIP dental program staff or consultants, state/territorial dental directors, county/city/local dental directors, community health center personnel, students, federally-employed dental personnel, school-based and school-linked health center personnel, as well as dental manufacturers/distributors and dental insurance companies – in short, anyone interested in engaging in collaboration to improve the oral health of the public.

HELP A CHILD SMILE
NOHC is partnering with the Women’s Foundation for a Greater Memphis on a community service project to help them with their Vision 2020 program and we are asking for your help. As part of their Vision 2020 strategy, they are providing backpacks with school and oral hygiene supplies to 1000 families in the Memphis area that are in need. We would like to be able to include oral hygiene supplies in each and every backpack!
We are asking all attendees to bring a few oral hygiene items with them to donate to this project.
Needed items include:
By bringing a few of these items with you to donate, you will be helping children and their families smile with good oral health!
We would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Veran Fairrow and her team at the Tennessee Department of Health for their help in planning and organizing the event and for supplying volunteers to help package the items, the Shelby County Health Department for donating bags for the project, and Crest+Oral-B and Johnson & Johnson for their generous donations of related items. A special thank you also to Dr. Christina Demopoulos, UNLV School of Dental Medicine for her help in organizing the sponsors. We really appreciate their assistance.
