Many healthcare providers are unaware that their transgender and gender nonbinary patients may require contraception for pregnancy prevention despite the use of HRT. This workshop will review current research on fertility of transgender and GNB people on HRT, what contraceptive methods are most appropriate for transgender and GNB patients, and how to discuss pregnancy risk with patients in gender-affirming language.

 

Learning Objectives:

• Identify transgender/GNC patients who require contraception for pregnancy prevention.
• Guide transgender/GNC patients in selecting an appropriate and effective contraceptive method.
• Demonstrate use of appropriate, gender-affirming language to discuss contraception and fertility with transgender patients.
