There are many social determinants that impact access to trans health. For example, current federal administration has reversed policies protecting LGBTQ people, people of color and immigrants. Although advocates have worked to change policies that recognize and respect the identities of non-binary and other trans people, other policies were passed that discourage people from accessing public benefits and perpetuate mistrusts between trans people of color and federally-funded services.
This session provides an overview of the community participatory model that Positively Trans and share some of the data that highlight community health priorities and barriers to care. Members of Positively Trans will share personal stories on their healthcare access experiences.
