The workshop will detail an overview of the Health Consumer Center's services related to transgender-related health access with a focus on denials by health plans for gender-affirming care and how to strategically appeal them.

 

Learning Objectives:

• Upon completion, participants will be able to identify and challenge illegal denials for gender-affirming care utilizing current legal authority for transgender health consumers.
• Upon completion, participants will be able to submit a strong statement of appeal better positioning themselves to overturn health plan denials.
• Upon completion, participants will be able to advocate from a position of empowerment with the necessary knowledge to navigate health systems that are often discouraging and bureaucratic for transgender patients.
