First, this presentation will be an informative overview of the history of insurance coverage of gender affirming care in California. Then, looking at gender affirming surgery data collected from Lyon-Martin Health Services, significant events will be identified that had a marked influence on access to surgery for trans communities in the Bay Area. Next, an overview of different ways to engage in advocacy that have a significant impact on access to gender affirming surgery will be discussed as potential strategies to be replicated in other states.

• Identify significant events that increased access to certain gender affirming surgeries in California using Lyon-Martin Health Services' Gender Affirming Surgery Access Data as an example.
• Learn a variety of modes of advocacy that can be utilized in other states to increase access to gender affirming surgery.
