This workshop will provide attendees with a brief history of the TransHealth Program at L.A. Care Health Plan from inception to present day. This history will include lessons learned in the search for best practices for serving the transgender population during this unique period when resources (monies, staffing, coverage and eligibility for transgender services) have been available to evolve and refine a full-featured program. Topics will include: community and provider collaboration, care navigation addressing the specific needs of the transgender community, and preparing customer service representatives, clinical health plan staff, and community partners to work with the transgender community.
