In this session, we will focus on a case study where we facilitated adverse event case processing through the use of artificial intelligence. Using historical data, we built and trained an algorithm to intake an adverse event case, extract key information, provide an initial interpretation of seriousness, and triage the case for review. We surfaced our analysis using a user-centric experience, which allowed the case processor to easily verify outputs, thus building trust and confidence in the machine’s interpretation. The system has been in use now for 9+ months, with marked success.
Session participants will learn how artificial intelligence can be applied to adverse event case processing (as well as other applications), and learn about the benefits, challenges, and lessons learned from deploying such a system. We will engage participants in an open discussion by presenting potential risks and discussing mitigation strategies that enable confidence in artificial intelligence.
