Dr Sylvia Chen, MBBS, FRACP, CSANZ
Sylvia is an Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) Cardiologist, and a CMR specialist.
Currently, she is lead clinician for ACHD, CMR, and perinatal Cardiologist for pregnant women with heart disease at the Northern and Epworth Hospitals in Melbourne. She also heads the Northern Tasmanian ACHD clinical and CMR service, funded and supported by the Tasmanian Government.
Sylvia is Research Cardiologist at the Royal Womens’ Hospital, where she is currently studying the heart in high risk pregnancy using CMR and echo.
Sylvia is Associate Editor for SCMR’s Case of the Week, and also the Australian member and representative for SCMR’s World Practice CMR Committee. She is the Congenital Lead on the Executive Board for the Australia and New Zealand CMR (ANZ CMR) working group. As a member of the Executive Board, she co-authored the congenital CMR section for the CMR imaging guidelines for training and recertification in Australia and New Zealand, and was part of the team for in the recent successful additional Medicare rebate application for ARVC.
Sylvia was trained in ACHD at University College and The Royal Brompton Hospitals, London. She trained (with subspecialty training in congenital CMR) and worked in the CMR unit at the Royal Brompton Hospital.
Sylvia has previously published in congenital heart disease and CMR, and has authored a book chapter in a congenital CMR text book.
