Her main specialty areas within behavioral medicine are physician wellness, chronic pain, addiction and teaching office-based cognitive behavioral stress management interventions. She has published numerous articles on physician wellness; dealing with difficult patients; chronic, nonmalignant pain; and addiction, among others. Additionally, she has lectured extensively on those topics at many national conferences. She has also lectured both nationally and internationally on the topic of motivational interviewing. She is also the associate director of UM/Jackson Multispecialty Learning Communities (MSLC) through the Office of Graduate Medical Education, specifically in charge of developing and coordinating the physician wellness curriculum for approximately 200 JHS interns each academic year.
