University of Massachusetts Medical School
I am currently a practicing surgeon/scientist with a research appointment as an Investigator within the Eaton Peabody Laboratory at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary and a clinical appointment as the Otologist/Neurotologist at the UMASS Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, MA. I medically and surgically treat patients with chronic ear disease and hearing loss. Being directly informed by my clinical care of patients in the clinic, my research has focused on improving surgical outcomes in otology. My current research has focused on improving middle ear reconstruction using advances in material science, including 3D printing. My lab utilizes acoustic-mechanical measurements, animal models and histopathologic evaluation to improve upon reconstructive graft materials and prostheses for the human eardrum and middle ear. In addition, I lead a number of human clinical studies focusing on rigorous assessment of post-surgical hearing outcomes and improved diagnostic methods for hearing impairment.
