Dr. Ono is a cultural anthropologist, who joined the Center to Improve Veteran Involvement in Care (CIVIC) as a Core Investigator and qualitative core director in 2014. Previously, she directed the Qualitative Core for CADRE, the Veterans Rural Health Resource Center-Central Region, and the VISN 23 PACT Demonstration Lab at the Iowa City VA Health Care System. Past projects include: rural access to health care; HIV telehealth care delivery; smoking cessation interventions; dual-use and co-management; PACT (PCMH) implementation; and military sexual trauma. Her current focus is on Veteran engagement in research, health care communication and improved access, and evaluation of large-scale implementation effort in primary care. She is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, OR.
