As a Doctor of Occupational Therapy, I have had the opportunity to develop a deep understanding of the needs of children and families living with disabilities. My clinical experience has allowed me to recognize the gaps in measurement, particularly for early identification of disability and the very real and devastating impact that can have on long-term outcomes for children. My research has focused on developing methodology for measuring real-world outcomes using both quantitative and qualitative approaches including 1) Using wearable biosensors to measure activity in children with and without developmental delay and 2) Developing and validating a picture-based tool for caregivers to report challenging activities of everyday living.
