Rehabilitation Clinical Specialist in Oncology
Lynn Tanner, PT is a physical therapist in the Cancer and Blood Disorders Clinic at Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota. She received her BA in Child Psychology from the University of Minnesota in 1999 and her Master’s in Physical Therapy from the Mayo School of Health Related Sciences in 2001. In her current role, she provides PT services to the oncology population in the Cancer and Blood Disorders clinic, conducts research investigating peripheral neuropathy and the impact of PT in pediatric oncology, and serves as a resource for pediatric oncology rehabilitation. She has presented around the country at the APTA Combined Section Meetings, American Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nursing Association Conferences, Children’s Hospitals Association Leadership Meeting, Children’s Oncology Group meetings, and at local Universities. Honors include the Emerging Leader Award in 2010 from the American Physical Therapy Association, the Oncology Section Stephen Gudas Award for Outstanding Publication in Rehabilitation Oncology with Dr. Laura Gilchrist, and the Children’s Minnesota Board Quality award. She was co-creator and chair of the Pediatric Oncology Special Interest Group of the APTA from 2010 to 2014 and continues involvement in multiple organizations advocating for rehabilitation in the pediatric oncology population.
