Arun Jayaraman, PhD, PT, is the Director of the Max Nader Center for Rehabilitation Technologies and Outcomes Research within the AbilityLab’s Center for Bionic Medicine (CBM). He is an Associate Professor at Northwestern University’s Departments of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Physical Therapy & Human Movement Sciences, and Medical Social Sciences. He is also an adjunct faculty at the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Illinois at Chicago and Hines VA hospital.
Dr. Jayaraman has been involved in rehabilitation research for the past fifteen years with a focus on outcomes research in the field of rehabilitation robotics, prosthetics, orthotics, and in other assistive and adaptive technologies to treat physical disability. His research is focused on clinical outcomes research using advanced wearable sensors and machine learning techniques. Dr. Jayaraman’s lab combines the newest advances in research methods, functional quantitative outcome measures, and statistical analyses to improve real-world use of rehabilitation technology. Dr. Jayaraman is currently the PI on several federal grants looking at optimizing the use of rehabilitation technologies in individuals with neurological injuries. He is also the recipient of multiple grants from the NIH, NSF, DOD, NIDLRR, and other private and industrial organizations. He has presented on the impact of rehabilitation technologies at the APTA’s IV Step Conference.
