Dr. Sandra M. Espin Tello is a postdoctoral research associate working at Washington University Program in Occupational Therapy as part of part of the Disability and Rehabilitation Research Program (DRRP) team project. The aim of this project is to build capacity to improve community participation for people aging with long-term disability (PAwLTPD) through evidence-based strategies. She holds a bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy, a master’s degree in social gerontology and a PhD in health sciences from Universidad de Zaragoza in Spain. Her doctoral thesis explored the influence of functional capacity on self-esteem in adults and young people with cerebral palsy. Dr. Espin-Tello spent three months as a visiting researcher at Newcastle University in the United Kingdom, where she researched participation of children with cerebral palsy and reviewed the adaptation of the European Child Environment Questionnaire for adults. Her research interests include promoting the community participation of people with physical disability.
