Kelly Askins McKenzie is a Senior Physical Therapist at the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab. She splits her time between working as a research therapist in Dr. Arun Jayaraman’s Max Nader Center for Rehabilitation Technologies and Outcomes Research and working as an outpatient neurologic physical therapist.
Kelly graduated in 2011 with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Illinois at Chicago with highest honors and received the College of Applied Health Sciences Dean's Achievement Award. Kelly is a Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Neurologic Physical Therapy. Kelly's primary areas of clinical expertise are rehabilitation for persons with spinal cord injury and the promotion of recovery of functional ambulation for persons with neurological disorders. Kelly is the project manager for the Stroke and Spinal Cord Injury Non-Invasive Spinal Stimulation studies currently underway at the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, and she serves on the Illinois Physical Therapy Association's Assembly of Representatives.
