Dr. Burke is the Chairman of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, at Emory University School of Medicine. He is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Integrative Medicine. Dr. Burke received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Colorado, Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Wichita State University, and Medical Degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. His research has focused on the assessment and treatment of patients with traumatic brain injury, with further emphasis on the functional progression of a wide variety of patients including elite athletes. He has more than 100 publications and presentations and is nationally and internationally recognized for his educational contributions to the field as well as his research into understanding the mechanisms and the environmental/chemical influences on the functional outcomes of patients with injuries to the brain. Dr. Burke is also the founder and editor-in-chief of Rehab in Review, a medical publication of the Association of Academic Physiatrists (AAP), and of the International Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (ISPRM).
