Dr. Juan Carlos Arango is currently an Ikerbasque research professor at BioCruces Bizkaia Health Research Institute. A neuropsychologist by training, Dr. Arango areas of expertise are neuropsychology, brain injury, and rehabilitation. Dr. Arango has published 303 documents between scientific articles and book chapters. He has edited 10 books. He has received over 6 million euros in external grant funding for his research and training programs. He has presented his research findings at over 448 scientific meetings and conferences on 4 continents. Dr. Arango has been invited to give talks and lectures at over 90 universities and scientific organizations in Europe, Africa, the United States, Asia and the Pacific, and Latin America.
Dr. Arango has received professional recognition from his peers. He has received 20 national and international awards, honors, and prizes. His accomplishments include the election for executive committee member in the International Neuropsychological Society in 2018, the Young Investigator Award from the International Brain Injury Association in 2012 and the Early Career Award from the National Academy of Neuropsychology in 2011. He serves on editorial boards of 30 journals and is an ad hoc reviewer for 46 prestigious international journals. He has been a guest editor of 12 special issues in renown brain injury and rehabilitation journals (Journal of Head Trauma and Rehabilitation, Brain Injury, NeuroRehabilitation, Journal of Rehabilitation Medicine, Behavioral Neurology, and Journal of Vocational Rehabilitation). Dr. Arango has also been active in providing supervision and training to students and professionals worldwide, with many of his alumni currently occupying academic positions at universities in the United States, Europe, Africa, and Latin America.
