I am a fourth year Molecular and Cellular Biology student at Cedarville University. I am a National Registered Emergency Medical Technician, and I plan to enroll in medical school in the following year. My primary area of interest is to understand the clinical impact of research specifically in Neurology and Immunology. I have researched the effect of metformin on immune cell functions such as migration and phagocytosis under the direction of Cedarville’s Immunologist Kaleb Pauley Ph.D. My research experience and interest has recently expanded to include those affected by dementia and relative caregiver populations. As I am interested in medicine, the impact dementia has on the patient as well as the caregiver demonstrated a perspective in medicine that is often unspoken. These experiences have provided an opportunity to pursue my goals and give me further direction in my interest in research and medicine.
