Ms. Janet Dean attended the University of Michigan, completing a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and a Master’s Degree in Parent¬-Child Nursing. She is a board certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and is also a Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse. As a nurse practitioner for the International Center for Spinal Cord Injury at the Kennedy Krieger Institute, she specializes in the prevention and treatment common health consequences of both traumatic and non-traumatic pediatric spinal cord injury. She has a particular focus on transverse myelitis and acute flaccid myelitis. She serves on the Scientific Advisory Board of the Transverse Myelitis Association and attends their annual Quality of Life Family Summer Camp for families with children whose lives are touched by transverse myelitis, acute flaccid myelitis or other rare neuroimmunologic conditions. She has over thirty years of experience in the specialty of pediatric rehabilitation.
