Originally from Dallas, Texas, Derek is a 4th-year clinical psychology doctoral student at Albizu University. He completed his associate’s degree in liberal arts at Collin College, a bachelor’s degree in sociology and psychology at the University of North Texas, a master’s degree in cognitive neuroscience at The University of Texas at Dallas, and a master’s degree in clinical psychology at Albizu University. He has conducted his clinical training at institutions such as UT Southwestern Medical Center, University of Miami School of Medicine, Design Neuroscience Center, and Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center. His clinical and research interests focus on acquired brain injuries with a special interest in traumatic brain injuries. When not seeing patients or conducting research, Derek enjoys listening to classical music, watching movies and documentaries, and enjoying South Florida’s culinary paradise.
