Cognitive impairment is a frequent complication of Parkinson's disease (PD). Mild cognitive impairment (PD-MCI) and dementia (PDD) occur in the majority of people affected by PD over time. This symposium will discuss the science and therapeutics of neurorehabilitation of cognition in PD, covering current research regarding PD-MCI and PDD, their heterogeneous clinical presentation and trajectory, proposed underlying mechanisms and neuroimaging signatures of PD-MCI, as well as the role of physical exercise and neurorehabilitation in improving the cognitive, motor, and other symptoms of PD and contributions to slowing cognitive decline.

Learning Objectives:

• describe the clinical features, heterogeneity, and rates of progression of PD-MCI along with therapeutic interventions studied.
• discuss magnetic resonance imaging findings of cortical and subcortical alterations in brain structure, function, and connectivity in PD-MCI.
• recognize the role of physical exercise and effects of different exercise modalities on PD cognition, motor and non-motor features.
