Medical and research advancements have contributed to increased life expectancy for individuals with disabilities, resulting in a growing adult populatio with long-term disabilities. They often experience earlier onset of new chronic conditions and greater barriers to healthcare and social participation than do their same aged peers. Once adults, they must learn to manage their health with less support and resources. Therefore, there is an urgent need for approaches and research to inform and provide resources to support individuals aging with disability to age in place. This presentation will present current knowledge and approaches associated with this growing and important problem.
