Models for chronic disease management maximize quality of life and health by promoting healthy lifestyles that reduce risk for deterioration. Effective interventions to increase positive health behaviors have been developed for the general population and some clinical populations. However, interventions developed for other populations may not directly transfer to persons with TBI. This symposium will present three studies of interventions that have been adapted for persons with TBI. All three target health behaviors considered to be key to maximizing quality of life: reduction in alcohol misuse, managing diet, increasing physical activity, and normalizing the sleep-wake cycle.
