Maya E. Bruhns, PsyD is a rehabilitation neuropsychologist at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center in Oakland, CA. She is also part-time adjunct faculty at The Wright Institute in Berkeley, CA. She studied cognitive neuroscience at Brown University before attending the Wright Institute, where her research on recovery from commercial sexual exploitation in childhood earned her the 2014 Outstanding Dissertation Award. She went on to train in neuropsychology and rehabilitation, first within the VA system and then with Dr. Keith Cicerone at JFK-Johnson Rehabilitation Institute. Her interests include traumatic brain injury, comprehensive/holistic cognitive rehabilitation, complex traumatic stress, and integrative services for survivors of family and community violence.
