Dr. Carmen Capó-Lugo’s research focuses on identifying and optimizing processes of care associated with rehabilitation in order to promote long-term patient recovery. In detail, Dr. Capó-Lugo is interested in developing new care delivery models for rehabilitation services that better address the needs of patients. Her research agenda has three foci: (1) the development of methods to optimize rehabilitation care within hospitals and other care settings, (2) the promotion of health and behavioral changes during and after rehabilitation, and (3) the use of secondary data analyses to inform rehabilitation service delivery and utilization. Recently, Dr. Capó-Lugo has been awarded a Faculty Fellowship at Johns Hopkins where she will focus on the development and implementation of patient-centered rehabilitation services across the continuum of care and the long-term assessment of the impact of rehabilitation services on patient experience, population health, and healthcare costs.
