Claire Z. Kalpakjian, PhD, MS is an Associate Professor and Director of Research in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Michigan. With a background in Rehabilitation and Clinical Psychology, she has practiced in the field of disability and rehabilitation for over 25 years. Dr. Kalpakjian has expertise in utilizing mixed methods in the development of patient-reported outcome measures and decision making tools focusing on women's health and disability. Her research program is supported by the National Institutes of Health, National Institute on Disability, Independent Living and Rehabilitation Research, and the Craig H. Neilsen Foundation. She has extensive experience mentoring postdoctoral fellows, house officers, junior faculty and practicing clinicians in clinical research. Dr. Kalpakjian is an associate editor for the Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. She leads her department of over 80 faculty and 400 allied health professionals in its transformation into a Learning Health System.
