Sandra A. Mitchell, PhD, CRNP, FAAN is a Research Scientist and Program Director in the Outcomes Research Branch, Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences at the National Cancer Institute. She directs a portfolio of research focused on the measurement and management of symptom burden and functional limitations during and following cancer treatment; analysis and interpretation of patient-reported and performance-based measures of symptoms, functional capacity and functional reserve as primary and secondary endpoints in cancer clinical trials; and testing of interventions to address rehabilitation needs, symptom management, and late treatment effects particularly in older adult or frail cancer survivors. Together with Basil Eldadah of the National Institute of Aging, she has co-led initiatives to strengthen the measurement of fatigability in older adults with cancer.
