Annalisa Na is a post-doctoral research fellow in the Division of Rehabilitation Sciences and Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Tx. She completed her Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Duke University and Ph.D. in Biomechanics and Movement Sciences at the University of Delaware. Her dissertation work focused on relating gait mechanics to self-reported walking difficulty in patients with knee osteoarthritis. Dr. Na’s current work focuses on optimizing functional outcomes for patients with complex comorbidities, specifically type 2 diabetes mellitus, who suffer from osteoarthritis and may require subsequent arthroplasty. Her dissertation was funded by the Orthopaedic Section of the American Physical Therapy Association, and most recently she received the Geriatric Research Grant from the Foundation for Physical Therapy Research. Before pursuing research, Dr. Na completed an Orthopedic Residency through Proaxis Therapy and Evidence in Motion. She continued her practice and served as a credentialed clinical instructor to DPT students in the outpatient orthopedic clinic at the University of Delaware. She is a Board Certified Specialists in Orthopaedics through the American Physical Therapy Association.
