Occupational Performance Coaching (OPC) is a well-defined, promising approach that promotes attainment of participation goals through addressing an individual's needs for autonomy, competence and relatedness, and can be adopted by a variety of rehabilitation professionals. A therapeutic coaching relationship is established to guide individuals to discover, implement, and evaluate their own solutions towards achieving their chosen participation goals.
We will describe OPC, highlight experiences of therapists providing OPC; provide an overview of OPC evidence with people who have experienced stroke; and present findings from a preliminary case study of OPC used with a resident in an assisted living facility.
