Shoulder pain is a frequent problem encountered after stroke and other acquired brain injury (ABI). In this symposium, we will: 1) Survey the incidence and impact of shoulder pain on recovery after stroke and other ABI 2) Discuss the appropriate assessment and differential diagnosis of shoulder pain following stroke and other acquired brain injury 3) Review the range of treatment options, taking into account therapy interventions, modalities, orthotics, medications, and interventional approaches. After this symposium, the attendee will be able to develop a graded approach to treating shoulder pain after ABI from conservative to more advanced interventions.
