Music interventions have been found to promote wakefulness and boost cognition in patients with Prolonged Disorders of Consciousness (O'Kelly et al., 2013; Castro et al., 2015). We will present several case studies where music interventions have promoted recovery, sharing behavioral outcomes and corresponding assessment data. Video examples and live musical demonstrations will illustrate typical Music Sensory Orientation Training interventions, ias well as the evidence-based protocol from the Music Therapy Assessment Tool for Awareness in Disorders of Consciousness (MATADOC – Magee et al., 2014). Through targeting outcomes across several domains, we will demonstrate music therapy's role in interdisciplinary rehabilitation.
