Findings from an innovative QI project to improve interdisciplinary coordination and team functioning are presented in this symposium. The project targets hospital administrators and key clinical faculty to address underlying issues in problematic areas experienced by hands-on providers. With ground rules to ensure privacy and psychological safety, pressing "real world" clinical issues are examined to identify effective interventions including organizational factors and processes. This project underscores the influence, both negative and positive, of broader organizational factors on team services and offers strategies to effectively intervene.

Learning Objectives:

• Describe the organizational and process variables which impact team functioning and treatment effectiveness (e.g. admission processes, nursing practices, and physician engagement).
• Critique a QI intervention directed at administration and clinical leadership to improve team care .
• Incorporate Tacit Knowledge and Knowledge – In – Process as components within rehabilitation organizational knowledge.
• Develop skills to design a process improvement intervention to improve treatment effectiveness.
