While physical therapy has been shown to be a successful treatment strategy for acute low back pain the results are not as promising for chronic low back pain. A likely explanation of this phenomenon is the current approach to developing a plan of care. This session will review current literature regarding plan of care development and dosage of care with respect to outpatient physical therapy. It will review new research assessing the impact of treatment duration and frequency of visits with respect to low back pain chronicity and patient outcomes to assist with future plan of care development and implementation.
