Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) is a common toxicity of pediatric cancer treatment. Learn to identify those most at risk, assess CIPN and related functional impairments, and implement physical and occupational therapy interventions that target CIPN-related impairments. The development and implementation of a prospective surveillance model for CIPN and functional impairments within an oncology clinic will be discussed. Case studies will be presented for group discussion. This presentation is most appropriate for physicians, nurses, PTs, PTAs, OTs, and OTAs.

Learning Objectives:

• Describe the phenomenon of CIPN as it presents in children and adolescents including identification of those most at risk for developing CIPN.
• Describe a surveillance model for CIPN and functional impairments implemented in one pediatric hospital and clinic setting.
• Select important measures to use in children and adolescents who are suspected to have CIPN.
• Describe interventions that can be implemented by physical and occupational therapists in the face of CIPN and related functional impairments.
